Professor Matt Pain is a 7th dan with the HDKI GB and has been training for over 45 years. Matt has a long and varied martial arts history, including multiple dan grades in two other styles of karate, and Japanese sword. He is a professor of biomechanics at Loughborough University (the number 1 ranked university in the world for sports studies) where his academic research focuses heavily on the mechanics of martial arts and human movement. He is a senior student of Rick Jackson Sensei (8th Dan) and trained with him since the founding of Jackson’s Sensei’s Fudochi way.
